Does makeup use cause premature aging and/or wrinkles?

Makeup itself is generally not what causes premature aging or wrinkles. The key to keeping your skin looking young, healthy, and fresh is what you put on UNDER your makeup! Skin care is REALLY important, and the younger you start with a good regimin the better. Also, depending on your skin type and heredity, your skin may age quicker or slower than the average person.

I was a Certified Beauty Advisor with the leading direct sales cosmetic company in the world.

Skin care is not just cleaning your face. Depending on your skin type, you need a different set of products. IF you have dry skin you need to use cream based products, they have more hydrating qualities. Dry skin tends to age quickest among skin types.

If you have normal, or normal to oily, use a gel type cleaner and lotion moisturizer. This will keep your face feeling fresh. Too much moisture will make your complexion feel thick and wet. Cleansing and moisturizing is important for ALL skin types, even combination and oily. Also, if you have normal to oily skin, make sure to use a toner or have a cleanser with it included. Don't be fooled, even oily skin requires moisture, and without moisturizer, oily skin will over produce natural oils to compensate, this is what gives the greasy appearance.

Another HUGE key to skin care is making sure to use an SPF of at least 15 EVERY DAY! Even and ESPECIALLY on cloudy days. 80 percent of skin damage comes from over cast days. Their are two types of rays, UVA and UVB. UVB (think B for burn) is on bright sunny days. UVA are the type that are particullary high on overcast days. These cause the most damage and lead more to skin cancer than even UVB.

The most skin damage occurs not only on the face but on the neck, upper chest, and top of hands. So even if you take care of your face, who wants to have an old looking neck with a young face? Make sure to use an SPF on all areas exposed to sun. You may not get as tan, but you will be saving your skin and will have the luxury of vanity a much longer time.

Most moisturizers and alot of foundations have SPF. If you have dry skin or burn really easy, you should go up from a 15 to 20 or more.

Lastly, make sure to clean and moisturize your face at night. Generally, your night cream is different than your day. Mainly you don't need SPF to go to bed, and usually your night cream is more of a treatment type of cream to rejuvenate skin while you sleep.

If you would like some personal guidance feel free to email me directly. I have used alot of different products and have found some really nice ones over time, as well as some others to stay away from. My email is mkh37206@yahoo.comDoes makeup use cause premature aging and/or wrinkles?
I don't think it does, I think it has sunblock in it and that keeps the sun from wrinkling itDoes makeup use cause premature aging and/or wrinkles?
using makeup doesn't cause premature aging or wrinkles, but incorrect cleansing will make a mess of your skin. What causes the most premature aging is sun exposure, without proper sunblock.
Well its not really been proven! However if you dont remove it at night for instance its not going to do your skin much good.

Also its a matter of application.. pulling under your eye for instance over years to put on eyeliner is going to give you lines you never had.
yeah and u get pimples too.........so dun put much makeup juz put a light makeup
yes, wash face clean after applying

it also causes acne if u apply too much
no it does not!!!!! i was told this as well so i asked a dermatologist. for those who don't know what that is it is a DR that specializes in skin. he said no medical proof of that and hes never seen that to be the case!!!!!!
Yeah, too much of it can. Try to avoid liquid makeups.
I asked a dermotologist once if using make-up was bad for my skin. He said that make-up isn't bad for the skin as long as it is noncomedogenic (doesn't clog pores) and oil-free. He also suggested choosing make-up that was hypoallergenic because it's gentle, and looking for make-up that contains sunscreen since sun-damage does age skin. Make sure you use a gentle cleanser to wash the make-up off at the end of each day, too.
That's what I've always been told. But remember no matter how tired you might be at the end of a long day, wash the make up of. Your face will feel a lot better.
thats what i've always been told...
not really
It doesn't actually cause the wrinkles; however, it can highlight them so they become more pronounced and obvious.
no it does not. Most makeup has titanium dioxide in it so it has a natural sunscreen which actually protects the face from premature wrinkling and sun spots/age spots. Get your make up done by a bobbi brown make up artist and you will love life
over time yes. that's why its good to have a good face wash. make sure you wash your face at night and use a good moisturizer. Don't use that cheap stuff. true beauty cost money.
NO!

A good makeup protects your skin. It will have sunscreen and moisturizer. The sun is our enemy. We need protection from sun and wind. Always cleans and moisturize your face before bed. The night creams are more intense and offer a healing agent.
No, usually it's the opposite because make-up has moisturizers to keep the skin supple. However, you do need to remove it everynight to cleanse the pores.
